{A few much needed fashion books}

The past few days feel like they were years and years ago. With the much anticipated summer holiday inching closer with every sunrise, it’s hard to continue focusing on anything school-related.  Despite the feeling that I’ve already finished my schooling, and the irresistible urge to ignore my homework, I know that I need to continue my studies for the next few weeks. Even so, I’m sure it will be impossible to follow through. On the bright side, this week has  gotten off to an excellent start. My Sunday was spent doing god knows what (I’ve already forgotten…) Yesterday I got out of school to visit the city, then gave a lesson, and went to a late band rehearsal. Today I was lucky enough to enjoy a much needed day off with close friends in the heart of Chicago. It was spent taking the train with some of the most incredible girls in the world, enjoying big breakfasts, walking around the “touristy” parts of the windy city, taking elevators, and thinking about things over a hot cup of tea. Before turning in and facing tomorrow, I thought I’d spend a bit of time sharing a few things that bring smiles to my face.

Life most definitely consists of some major ups and downs. Just these past two months have gone from exhausting to frustrating to relief to disappointment and finally, to a lot of joy. This week  has started off excellent and has (so far) failed to disappoint. It has consisted of a great little town, unexpected letters, last minute trips to sushi bars, and some incredible weather. With the upcoming spring, I thought I’d take a few minutes out of my day to bake a sweet treat. These oatmeal (mini) chocolate chip cookies are tasty enough to brighten anyones day. Just add a bit of milk for instant pleasure.

Sometimes it’s easy to feel as if life keeps on punching you in the face, and though it’s discouraging, it helps teach us to get back on our feet again. It’s definitely easier said than done, but with a little effort, a long rant to your sister, crazy good music, and a lot of chocolate and milk, you begin to notice that you can feel a bit better no matter the circumstances. Sometimes, it also helps to get your mind off of everything. That’s when I discovered River of Romansk; an adorable, ethereal shop on Etsy. At the moment, I’m in love with their stunning, delicate, romantic clothing, but seeing as I’ve completely run out of money (thank you, plane tickets!) it’s gonna be a long few months of window shopping for me! Here are my favorite pieces.

One of my favorite things to make, are brownies. They’re so simple, sweet, and if done right, moist and full of flavor. That’s why last night, I dedicated a lot of my time to creating these savory treats. The unexpected peppermint flavor and sweet frosting leaves your taste buds tingling and your breath minty fresh.

I’ve always had a thing for cute little shops in old cities. That’s why when I spotted this candy shop, I went nuts (no pun intended). Its a sweet little store full of homemade treats and old fashioned scales. Its enough to drive anyone bonkers. And seeing as I have a fairly large sweet tooth, there’s no surprise I’ll definitely be stopping by tomorrow.

There’s something about warm hot chocolate in the mornings that’s ridiculously relaxing, comforting, and soothing on both your cough and your nerves. That’s why this morning, I ditched the caffeine and went straight for creamy bliss. With an audition only a few hours away, I didn’t want anything I consumed to make me more nervous than I already am. Happy Thursday!

This week has been full of frenzy. I’ve been busy with my studies and school work as well as tedious hours of music practice. Not all is rushed though, the snow seems far from willing to melt any time soon so, naturally, I’ve bought enough chocolate oranges to last me the next few months of cold. To help the days go by, I’ve been discovering a lot of beautiful tunes. Since I’m a sucker for bittersweet lyrics and minimal, simple music, it’s no surprise Near to You was at the top of the list. It’s one of those pieces perfect for blue nights. All you need is a cup of almond milk and gingerbread chocolate cookies and ta-da, bi bi heartbreak. (Alright, maybe not that simple after all…)

I’m better near to you,
