{A few much needed fashion books}

The past few days feel like they were years and years ago. With the much anticipated summer holiday inching closer with every sunrise, it’s hard to continue focusing on anything school-related.  Despite the feeling that I’ve already finished my schooling, and the irresistible urge to ignore my homework, I know that I need to continue my studies for the next few weeks. Even so, I’m sure it will be impossible to follow through. On the bright side, this week has  gotten off to an excellent start. My Sunday was spent doing god knows what (I’ve already forgotten…) Yesterday I got out of school to visit the city, then gave a lesson, and went to a late band rehearsal. Today I was lucky enough to enjoy a much needed day off with close friends in the heart of Chicago. It was spent taking the train with some of the most incredible girls in the world, enjoying big breakfasts, walking around the “touristy” parts of the windy city, taking elevators, and thinking about things over a hot cup of tea. Before turning in and facing tomorrow, I thought I’d spend a bit of time sharing a few things that bring smiles to my face.

{First signs of florals near my home}

It’s so nice that it’s finally Friday. This week felt as if it has dragged on and on for a lot more than just 5  days. In just a few hours I’ll be at home, my feet on the table, playing Mass Effect 3 and not a care in the world. Hopefully the week I have off feels just as long as this one has. I’ve got plans for a few lunches and brunches here and there, a bit of shopping on Michigan Ave, a stroll on the beach, and a few concerts to attend. This holiday is just what I need to prepare for the stress of April-May. I thought I’ve captured a few things that bring me joy and share them with you. Happy weekend!

I thought I’d spend a few minutes before heading to the library to express my deepest love for the Harry Potter series. I’m the kind of Potterhead who has at least 3 copies of each book, has read and listened to them countless of times, cried at all the midnight book and movie premiers, celebrates Harry’s birthday each year, is convinced my letter to Hogwarts will one day come, and will collect any Harry Potter good I set eyes on. I’m more than psyched for the next Harry Potter good I can feast on, Pottermore (opening for everyone early this April) and the Harry Potter Encyclopedia. Sigh… just thinking of it makes me swoon. Well, now I must be off to work on a few assignments before the much anticipated spring holiday. I’ll definately be listening to Jim Dale read the beauty of JK Rowling’s works the entire time.

So far, my weekend has started off great. I went for a morning run, made chocolate chip waffles, and used my new moleskin planner. With the busy weeks to come, it’s nice to be able to sit down and enjoy a few minutes to myself. That’s why I’ve fallen in love with Spell by Marie Digby. This sweet, calm tune is perfect for  a quick break in the middle of the day.

Beauty emanates from every word that you say,

Much of this week has been busy, but despite the rushed mornings and packed afternoons, its surprisingly been pretty laid back. I’ve somehow found time to go on a run, read incredible literature, sip warm peppermint tea, chat with friends, and paint my nails (in Jade Rose.) I’ve also found myself dreaming a lot lately. For a while now I would wake up and completely forget them, but they’ve started sticking with me again. I’ve even considered creating a dream jar (like the one in the picture above). But until then, here’s to hours of tedious homework! Happy Thursday!

This past week has been spent studying for several tests and long hours of flute practice. Not all has been a rush of work though, I’ve enjoyed a few evening walks, a very long bubble bath, and breakfast with two close friends. Though it’s been busy, I’ve still dedicated some of my room time to great music. I came across “Far Away” as I listened to every Ingrid Michaelson song the internet provided. The sweet, sincere lyrics and warm melody are ideal for a late night of last-minute cramming and warm peppermint tea.

I want to go far away,

{Decorative lanterns used in my room.}

Sometimes I find myself overwhelmed or stressed out by my busy days. Whether it comes from over studying, over practicing, or over thinking, it can get a bit over-the-top. In cases like this, I find myself doing the same things to keep me smiling. Oftentimes I find myself taking a walk through the graveyard, a long, steaming hot shower, spoon eating nutella and peanut butter (a tasty solution), sleeping, or applying cinnamint gloss. I’ve also discovered that taking pictures of things I like helps me relax. My sister recently taught me this trick. Her gorgeous pictures inspired me to take photos of things I would have normally not taken a second glance at. Here are some of my favorites.
